Sachin Tendulkar receives honorary membership from the MCC in recognition of his exceptional contributions to cricket.
One of the most prominent cricket organizations, the MCC, oversees the renowned Lord’s Cricket Ground and promotes cricket all over the world. Tendulkar’s honorary membership was formally announced by the club on its social media platform “X,” with the following statement:
“An icon is honored. In recognition of his exceptional contribution to cricket, the MCC is happy to announce that former Indian captain Sachin Tendulkar has accepted an Honorary Cricket Membership.
After making his debut against Pakistan in Karachi in 1989 at the age of 16, Sachin Tendulkar played 200 Test matches during the course of his 24-year career. At an average of 53.78, he amassed an unmatched 15,921 runs, which included 51 hundreds and 68 half-centuries. He was known as the “golden arm” because of his propensity to disrupt important partnerships with his sporadic bowling, which resulted in 46 wickets.
Tendulkar’s supremacy was also evident in the ODI format, where he averaged 44.83 and amassed 18,426 runs in 463 games. He has 96 fifties and 49 hundreds in his ODI record. He played his final ODI against the same opponent in March 2012 after making his debut against Pakistan at Gujranwala in December 1989. On December 1, 2006, the cricket legend played for India in a solitary Twenty20 International match against South Africa in Johannesburg.
Cricket fans were moved by Tendulkar’s last Test match against the West Indies in November 2013 at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium.
