In a press conference, the Union Minister of State for Health, Family Welfare, and Ayush (Independent Charge) underscored the central government’s endeavors to combat the disease and the increasing number of cancer cases in India. The government intends to implement hospital-based cancer examinations for women over the age of 30 and to establish daycare cancer centers to facilitate early detection and treatment as part of its strategy.
Important Information Regarding the Vaccine
The minister disclosed that the vaccine would concentrate on the prevention of breast cancer, oral cancer, and cervical cancer, which are among the most prevalent causes of mortality among women in India. Although he refrained from providing additional technical information, he confirmed that the trials are proceeding smoothly and that the vaccine will be available to eligible females in the near future.
Jadhav also affirmed that the government has eliminated customs duties on essential cancer medicines to alleviate the financial burden of cancer treatment, thereby making it more affordable.
Ayush Healthcare Expansion
Jadhav clarified that hospitals already have dedicated Ayush departments and that the government is currently working to increase the availability of these services in relation to the expansion of Ayush healthcare centers. At present, there are 12,500 Ayush-based healthcare centers located throughout the nation, with plans to establish additional facilities in the near future.
The introduction of a cancer vaccine is a critical development in India’s battle against the disease, as it provides preventive solutions and fortifies the healthcare infrastructure.
